About

We have 9 rooms in our guesthouse - an enclosed loft, a large room in the communal area, rooms in the older home, and some lake-view rooms.  Our simple, clean rooms are equipped with double beds, all have windows looking to the garden or the lake. The communal areas include a beautiful large lake-facing open terrace, dining areas, a cozy private beach and the mango forest.

EATING

We have an organic plantation that provides a large variety of food, we prepare tasty and healthy meals and drinks for you (a mix of Western and Indonesian/Batak, tea, coffee, and fruits/juices). We cook together, teaching guests about traditional local methods and ingredients. We are very proud of our fusion andaliman pepper pizza, that has became popular around lake Toba.Breakfast is included in the room, and contribution for lunch or dinner (and available snacks all day) costs 75.000IDR/person each (150.000 IDR for both). This includes also all drinks and all the food from our buffet, which is prepared the whole day for our guests.

PARTICIPATION/ACTIVITIES

We would like to engage you in the farm’s daily life (dependant on the duration of your stay, the season, the garden and other factors): 
-production of mango wine, vinegar and jam, (some produce is growing year-round; some is harvested 1-2x/year around January and July)-coffee and cacao harvesting and roasting (2-3 days min) -graviola leaf tea production  -plant or care for a cacao, mango, or coffee tree   -help us in the kitchen to learn how we cook, share recipes-swim in the lake, visit the buffalo, trek, take out a canoe , go fishing-hire a boat to go around Samosir (can sleep on the boat), rent a scooter to explore the island (traditional Batak villages, stone-carving, waterfalls, stunning views), or hire a guide for an island tour or hiking-we can organise a fish BBQ, and there may be a traditional party nearby you can join.
We have large and a very small speedboat and a Solarboat, where we offer tours and pickups. for our guests. We have 3 Stand Up Paddles, which you also can rent. Also we can offer Motorbikes for rent and we can offer tours and pick ups with our car up to 7 people.

WHAT YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT IN OUR GARDEN

As well as mango, we grow cacao, coffee, coconut, avocado, durian, soursoup, jackfruit, guava, passionfruit, strawberries, tapioca, onions, eggplant, zucchini, salad, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, lemongrass, citronella, cinnamon, ginger, thallas, cloves and other herbs. We also have water buffalo, pigs, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, and we fish lobster, tilapia and catfish. 

PROJECTS and WORKSHOPSOur place is getting used for workshops, what we give or what other people give. We are equipped with Whiteboards and projectors, if you need it. For groups also we offer dormitory space for staying. We can arrrange meetings to up to 30 people or even more, if you want to stay close together.

We offer a unique traditional Batak farmstay experience. Silimalombu village (meaning the 5 cows) was formed by my grandparents. Our family’s farmstay is now managed by myself (Ratnauli), my German husband and my employees. We farm the natural 300-500 year old mango forest and we grow and make many products on a small scale, like mango wine, jam, chutney. Also we make a lot of different herbal teas, we make cold pressed oils and some other products. We aim for a sustainable lifestyle, and we’re largely self-sufficient. We manage organic permacultural farming, we use solar panels, waste water management and composting. We are more a 5 star farm, then a 5 star hotel.

If you need a hotel, an aircon, springbeds, hairdryer and kilos of toiletpaper, than it is not your place. Then better make a booking at a Hotel in Parapat or Tuktuk. We want to give you an experience of a sustainable lifestyle, where you can partizipate.

We already get a touristic spot for a lot of people, they want to visit an organic farm and to learn from it. They come especially around lunch time to our farm. They enjoy our beach and our our huge buffet, where you can eat all inclusive. We are really proud of our dishes, where we use a lot of different pumkins and nearly every day you also can find dishes made from the meat of Wild Boar. Also we are proud of our Ailiburger. Also we have a lot of vegan and vegetetarian dishes.

At our farm we have a lot of animals: Dogs, pigs, chicken, ducks, bufallo and monkey. That the animals made sounds also in night must be clear. At the other side, there are no loudspeakers around which wake you up in the early morning for praying.
